Casa Eco Maya is the 2nd LEED certified home in Mexico. Located in Merida, the capital of the Yucatan, this house incorporates many energy efficiency and sustainability features uncommon in the area. In order to meet energy efficiency requirements, the structure uses Omniblock, an insulated cement masonry unit to provide an efficient building envelope, in contrast to typical uninsulated structures in the region. SK Collaborative provided the LEED Green Rater services including energy modeling, consulting during design development, and field inspection and testing at completion.
