Job Position: Green Building Consultant

Location: Decatur, GA
Full Time/Part Time: Full time position
Reports To: Director of Multifamily Services
Travel Required: Yes – mostly local to metro-Atlanta area, estimated at 75%

Our comprehensive services encompass consulting, design reviews, charrettes, training, and certification for both single and multifamily buildings. We specialize in certifications under the National Green Building Standard (NGBS), EarthCraft, ENERGY STAR, Fitwel, LEED for Homes, Enterprise Green Communities, Zero Energy Ready Homes, and LEED for Neighborhood Development.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

SK Collaborative is seeking a dynamic and driven individual to join our team as a Green Building Consultant. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Collaborate with a highly skilled, experienced team dedicated to improving building performance.
  • Provide technical expertise for multifamily and single-family green building certification projects, adhering to our company’s rigorous standards and processes.
  • Conduct thorough site inspections during pre-drywall and final construction phases to ensure compliance with green building standards and building enclosure best practices.
  • Perform essential building performance tests, including duct leakage, blower door, ventilation airflow verification, and window spray rack testing.
  • Effectively communicate green building program requirements and principles of building science to project teams.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently, overseeing them from design inception through to construction completion.
  • Review and approve construction documents, submittals, and project documentation for accuracy and compliance with program requirements.
  • Demonstrate flexibility with travel, including occasional day trips outside the metro Atlanta area. This role may require short-notice travel.

Required Industry Skills:

  • Associate degree in a built environment design or planning field (i.e. architecture, construction management or building-related engineering disciplines).
  • 1+ years of relevant experience.
  • Enthusiasm for inspecting and testing construction sites.
  • Strong quantitative analysis skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in and understanding of high-performance building strategies.
  • Experience in reading and reviewing construction drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with green building programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Strong overall computer skills.

 

Preferred Technical Skills/Certifications:

  • Previous rating experience as a HERS Rater, LEED Homes Green Rater and/or NGBS Green Verifier
  • Previous construction experience as builder or industry trade
  • Experience with Indoor Air Quality Testing, Construction Management or Environmental Site Assessments
  • LEED Green Associate accreditation
  • LEED Homes, ND, BD+C, EB+OM, and/or ID+C knowledge

Physical Requirements:

Performing fieldwork involves extensive navigation in and around construction sites, buildings, attics, and crawlspaces, as well as climbing ladders. Inspectors are required to carry testing equipment weighing up to 40 lbs. Therefore, applicants must possess physical dexterity, endurance, strength, and balance to perform these tasks safely and effectively.
