Columbus, Georgia

The historic Claflin School in Columbus, Georgia, originally built as a school for African American children is being converted into affordable rental apartments using a combination of historic preservation and low income housing tax credits.  In addition to renovation of the existing 1948 building, new buildings will be constructed on the surrounding land to provide a total of 41 affordable rental apartments.  Scheduled for completion in 2019, the project will be certified under the Enterprise Green Communities program, providing healthy, safe, and energy efficient rental housing.
